How to visit
South Gate (Hongli Road; bus 'Lianhuashan Park' stop, or ~600 m from Exit F1 of Shaoniangong Station on the metro)—enter directly to the Yefenglin lawn and Kite Square, the easiest route up the central axis. The northwest gate (Beidai Hospital stop) involves less climbing.

Avoid these mistakes
Weekends and holidays draw huge crowds—the summit square queues for photos and the lawn is nearly full. Go on weekday mornings or off-peak evenings; for the light show, reach the summit at least an hour ahead to secure a spot.
The light show requires a booking; without one you may not enter the Civic Centre square area. Book in advance via the 'Meili Shenzhen' WeChat account; watching from the Lotus Hill summit needs no entry to the square.
Summer (May–Oct) in Shenzhen is hot with frequent thunderstorms, and the summit has no shade. Avoid midday, bring water and sun protection, and don't linger in the summit square during thunderstorms.
Entry stops at 22:30, and night descents need timing. After the 21:30 light show, leave immediately with descent time allowed; watch your step on dimly lit paths.
During the Bougainvillea flower show (about November each year) some areas are fenced for construction. Check official notices during the show and detour as directed.
