Tanzhe Temple

潭柘寺Tánzhè Sì

Tanzhe Temple combines an old Buddhist complex with a substantial western-mountain journey. Visit the main halls and ancient trees first, add the pagoda-forest area only if open and time allows, then protect the return transport buffer.

Use the official visitor information first; foreign visitors can normally use a staffed window or visitor center with a passport.

When to book

Book when the official window opens; high-demand dates can fill quickly.

Booking steps

  1. 1

Open the official information and check whether advance booking is required for your date or exhibition.

  2. 2

If no advance-only notice appears, take the original passport to the staffed ticket window or visitor center.

  3. 3

Keep the booking message, ticket or receipt and present it with the same passport.

What to bring

Original passport plus the official confirmation, QR code or on-site ticket.

If booking does not work

Do not enter a made-up Chinese ID number. If the form blocks foreign documents or phone numbers, use the staffed route or contact the venue before departure.

Foreigner notes

Fix the return before entering

The mountain location makes a missed bus or uncertain pickup more consequential than at an urban temple.

Keep the main axis first

Ancient trees and principal halls form a complete visit; the pagoda branch is optional if weather or access changes.

Keep a time buffer after the last stop

Queues, security checks and internal transfers can take longer than the walking distance suggests. Leave before the final return-service window.

Check the live venue notice

The profile gives the normal plan. Recheck temporary closures, event controls, weather restrictions and last-entry wording on the official page before departure.

Use the named entrance

Copy the Chinese entrance name and full address into the map app; a broad attraction pin can be far from the visitor gate.

!

Avoid these mistakes

1

Mountain travel time is substantial; do not pair this with a fixed evening reservation in central Beijing.

2

Do not combine Tanzhe Temple with a fixed central-Beijing evening slot unless private return transport and a large buffer are secured.

3

Do not treat an old ticket page, screenshot or third-party timetable as a same-day operating notice.

4

Do not assume the attraction's public area, museum rooms, shows, boats or cableways share one booking rule.
