Tanzhe Temple
Tanzhe Temple combines an old Buddhist complex with a substantial western-mountain journey. Visit the main halls and ancient trees first, add the pagoda-forest area only if open and time allows, then protect the return transport buffer.
Verified ticket prices
- The admission ticket does not imply transport from central Beijing.
- No qualifying admission-only or clearly admission-inclusive international-platform product was verified. Use the official channel.
How to book
Use the official visitor information first; foreign visitors can normally use a staffed window or visitor center with a passport.
Book when the official window opens; high-demand dates can fill quickly.
Booking steps
- 1
Open the official information and check whether advance booking is required for your date or exhibition.
- 2
If no advance-only notice appears, take the original passport to the staffed ticket window or visitor center.
- 3
Keep the booking message, ticket or receipt and present it with the same passport.
Original passport plus the official confirmation, QR code or on-site ticket.
Do not enter a made-up Chinese ID number. If the form blocks foreign documents or phone numbers, use the staffed route or contact the venue before departure.
Advance booking suggested (lead).

Mountain Gate.
Return through the lower courtyards before the final mountain bus or pickup.
- 1Stop 1Visitor entrance
At the visitor entrance, confirm the final bus or pickup and current access to the pagoda area before moving uphill.
- 2Stop 2Main gate
Pass the mountain gate slowly to read the nested temple axis and the change from public forecourt to religious space.
- 3Stop 3Mahavira Hall
Use the Mahavira Hall and its courtyard as the architectural center, observing worship etiquette before approaching.
- 4Stop 4Ancient-tree courtyard
Pause at the ancient-tree courtyard for the relationship between living monuments and the temple's long chronology.
- 5Stop 5Pagoda forest area
Take the pagoda-forest branch only on the official open path and turn back at the stated boundary.
- 6Stop 6Return path
Use the lower route to return before transport uncertainty increases late in the day.
- 7Stop 7Final booking and return check
Before the final section, recheck the recorded rule: Check weather, road access and current ticket rules. Then confirm Take Subway Line 6 or Line S1 to Pingguoyuan Station, then transfer to Bus 931 for Tanzhe Temple; allow substantial transfer time..
Early morning.
About 06:00–18:00 (conservative reference).
Research checked 2026-08-12Foreigner notes
The mountain location makes a missed bus or uncertain pickup more consequential than at an urban temple.
Ancient trees and principal halls form a complete visit; the pagoda branch is optional if weather or access changes.
Queues, security checks and internal transfers can take longer than the walking distance suggests. Leave before the final return-service window.
The profile gives the normal plan. Recheck temporary closures, event controls, weather restrictions and last-entry wording on the official page before departure.
Copy the Chinese entrance name and full address into the map app; a broad attraction pin can be far from the visitor gate.
Avoid these mistakes
Mountain travel time is substantial; do not pair this with a fixed evening reservation in central Beijing.
Do not combine Tanzhe Temple with a fixed central-Beijing evening slot unless private return transport and a large buffer are secured.
Do not treat an old ticket page, screenshot or third-party timetable as a same-day operating notice.
Do not assume the attraction's public area, museum rooms, shows, boats or cableways share one booking rule.
