How to book
The web portal does not accept foreign phone registration. Use the Chinese WeChat mini program “天安门广场预约参观”, or enter with a qualifying National Museum reservation for the same period.
Book when the official window opens; high-demand dates can fill quickly.
Booking steps

In WeChat, search “天安门广场预约参观” and choose Personal Reservation (个人预约).

Add each visitor's passport name and number; one eligible person may reserve for the group.
- 3
Save the reservation record, or use a valid National Museum reservation for the same morning/afternoon period.

If you cannot use the mini program, ask a hotel or trusted companion to reserve with your passport details. The official consultation line currently provides Chinese service only.

How to visit
Tiananmen East/West Station, Metro Line 1.
Leave from the north side toward Tian'anmen Gate or Qianmen to the south.

Walk around, rather than onto, the monument enclosure and read the reliefs before looking back across the full scale of the square.

Use the open center for the clearest spatial view between Zhengyangmen, the Great Hall, the National Museum and Tian'anmen Gate.
- 4Stop 4North edge and Tian'anmen view
End on the north side for the frontal gate view; continue only after checking the separate reservation for the rostrum or Palace Museum.
- 5Stop 5Exit and onward transport
Confirm the signed exit and the next transport connection before the final stop.

Navigate to 天安门广场 at 东长安街; the broad attraction pin may be far from the visitor gate.

Before the final section, recheck the recorded rule: Real-name reservation is normally required; carry the original passport. Then confirm Take Subway Line 1 to Tian'anmen East or Tian'anmen West, then follow the current on-site signs to an open security entrance..

The route itself is compact, but approach controls and security can take longer than the walk across the square.
The square, Tian'anmen Rostrum, National Museum and Palace Museum use separate admission arrangements; keep every confirmation accessible offline.
Queues, security checks and internal transfers can take longer than the walking distance suggests. Leave before the final return-service window.
The profile gives the normal plan. Recheck temporary closures, event controls, weather restrictions and last-entry wording on the official page before departure.
Copy the Chinese entrance name and full address into the map app; a broad attraction pin can be far from the visitor gate.
Avoid these mistakes
The square, Tian'anmen Gate and the Forbidden City may require separate reservations.
Do not bring bulky luggage: storage is not the same as at a museum, and an unsuitable bag can force a long detour.
Do not treat an old ticket page, screenshot or third-party timetable as a same-day operating notice.
Do not assume the attraction's public area, museum rooms, shows, boats or cableways share one booking rule.
