Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon

张家界大峡谷Zhangjiajie Daxiagu

A deep forested canyon east of Wulingyuan with waterfalls, narrow paths and activity routes anchored by the glass bridge. Allow 4–6 hours (Line B takes about 3–4 hours walking + queuing) for the core visit. Save the named entrance in your map; the attraction centre may sit away from the gate.

How to book

Passport route · assistance may be needed
Channel

Use the Grand Canyon scenic area's official ticket page or official WeChat channel for the exact product and date.

When to book

The checked ticket page does not publish one universal lead-time rule for foreign visitors.

Booking steps

  1. 1

Choose Grand Canyon admission or the glass-bridge combination as a separate product when shown.

  2. 2

Read the current identity-document fields and passport instructions before submitting the visitor record; passport support is not confirmed here.

  3. 3

Save the official order and confirm the named entrance, security time and any activity-specific requirement.

What to bring

The dated official order is the expected ticket credential; the checked page does not confirm the foreign-passport entry workflow.

If booking does not work

If the glass bridge or another activity is suspended, follow the scenic area's official change or refund notice for that product.

4–6 hours (Line B takes about 3–4 hours walking + queuing).

How to visit

Start

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon visitor centre (Sanguansi Tujia township, Cili County; navigate '张家界大峡谷游客中心'); buses or charter cars run from Wulingyuan town/central Zhangjiajie, about 40 minutes from Wulingyuan's landmark gate.

Finish

Leave Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon through the exit nearest the next street or temple district, not necessarily the gate you entered; check the return advice: Confirm the exact gate in Chinese; entrances can be one to two hours apart by road.

  1. 1
    Stop 1Visitor centre

Real-name check, baggage storage, and timed entry.

  2. 2
    Stop 2Yixiantian slide

Glass slide at the canyon entrance (paid extra experience), bypassable on foot.

  3. 3
    Stop 3Rainbow Lake cruise

A cruise across a lake inside the canyon, included in the official route.

  4. 4
    Stop 4Rainbow Plaza

    A mid-canyon plaza; waterfall viewpoint.

  5. 5
    Stop 5Sculpture elevator / treasure-hunt elevator

Vertical elevators inside the canyon connecting different boardwalk levels.

  6. 6
    Stop 6Bridge-East Experience Centre

From the east side of the glass bridge: sightseeing elevator, VR experience and glass boardwalk (some paid extra).

  7. 7
    Stop 7Glass bridge

Cloud-Sky Bridge: 430 m long, about 300 m above the valley floor, spanning two cliffs; after crossing you're at the scenic exit (glass bridge) and take the shuttle back toward the visitor centre.

Best time

Weekdays, take the first entry slot (7:30–10:29) when canyon light is good and the bridge is quiet; afternoons bring tour-group clusters and entry stops at 16:00.

Foreigner notes

Save the named gate

For Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, save 张家界大峡谷 and 三官寺乡 in the map app; a broad venue pin may stop short of the visitor gate.

Passport and phone rules vary

Do not assume a Grand Canyon admission ticket includes the glass bridge or every activity; the official page separates products.

Crowd patterns are starting points

For Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, the usual crowd pattern is only a planning hint; check the day's notice and the queue at the gate.

Check the current opening notice

Normal opening profile: Current official guide: 08:00-16:00; last entry 15:30. Choose the A, B or B1 real-name route. The official guide says inspection ends at 16:00; use 15:30 as a conservative last-entry time because ticket channels may close earlier.

Keep the arrival point handy

Save 张家界大峡谷 and 三官寺乡 before leaving; the last walk is easier when the gate is already marked.

Avoid these mistakes

1

Buying Line A then being refused the glass bridge. The glass bridge requires Line B/B1 (¥216); Line A (¥91) doesn't include it. Read the route names carefully when buying.

2

Glass-bridge closures (system upgrades/bad weather/inspections). Check the official 'notices' column or call 0744-3353888 before departing to confirm that day's bridge status; reschedule on closure days.

3

Missing your timed slot blocks entry. Arrive at the visitor centre 30 minutes before your slot; rescheduling requires handling a refund on the purchase platform in advance.

4

Return transport: the exit (west of the glass bridge) is far from the visitor-centre car park. After crossing, take the scenic shuttle back to the visitor centre/car park; self-drivers confirm parking and shuttle arrangements.

5

Peak-season glass-bridge caps make queues exceed an hour. Enter in the first slot (07:30–10:29) and dodge the 10:30–13:29 tour-group peak.

6

Treating platform package prices as the ticket price. Go by the official ¥91 (Line A)/¥216 (Line B); platform packages bundling shuttles/guides aren't admission.

Items to reconfirm
  • The task lead 'about ¥128' has no official confirmation and looks like an old or platform price; the official current price is ¥91 for Line A. — Check the checkout price on the official ticket page or in WeChat ordering.
  • Whether timed booking is mandatory now (2026) and whether passport online purchase works isn't directly confirmed on official pages. — Test the official ticket page's 'book now' flow or call 0744-3353888.
  • Two opening-hour versions exist—08:00–16:30 (platforms) vs check-in stops 16:00 (project lead)—with no static official publication. — Check official notices/hotline before travelling to confirm that day's times.
  • Whether the Rainbow Lake cruise is included in the fare (it's a route node with no separate price listed) has no clear fee statement. — Check the ticket's 'included' details when buying.
