How to visit
Xianshi Gate (south gate of the Confucian Temple), No.15 Guozijian Street inside Andingmen, Dongcheng District, Beijing; project notes mark entry via No.13 Xianshi Gate; about 10 minutes' walk from Yonghegong Station on Metro Lines 2/5.
Leave onto Guozijian Street and walk to the Lama Temple or Wudaoying.

Best time
Arrive early after the weekday opening (9:00–10:00) to avoid tour-group peaks; note the 2026 summer closure is Tuesday (until Aug 30), not Monday.
Foreigner notes
The shared admission route crosses from ritual commemoration into state education. Following that order makes the architecture easier to read.
Lama Temple and Wudaoying are close on foot, but the shaded historic street is part of the transition rather than dead travel time.
Queues, security checks and internal transfers can take longer than the walking distance suggests. Leave before the final return-service window.
The profile gives the normal plan. Recheck temporary closures, event controls, weather restrictions and last-entry wording on the official page before departure.
Copy the Chinese entrance name and full address into the map app; a broad attraction pin can be far from the visitor gate.
